How to Play Klondike Solitaire
The idea is to transport all the cards to the four foundations constructing one suit beginning with Ace to King. Draw cards with the help of the stock pile (Turn 1 to play more easily and Turn 3 to play more difficult). Make the tableau by the descending sequence of cards and interchanging the color. Only move piles of cards in succession as they must be face up. Kings (or each stack containing a King) are also the only possible way of filling an empty column. Each step will be used to discover unseen cards and each card you expose will lead to possibilities.
Klondike Solitaire Controls
Klondike Solitaire uses very simple, intuitive controls since the whole game is based on clicking and moving cards.
- Left Click – Select a card, flip from the stock pile, or move a card.
- Click + Drag – Move cards or card groups to another column or to the foundation.
- Right Click (optional on some versions) – Auto-move eligible cards to the foundation.
- Undo Button – Reverse your last move (available in most online versions).
- Hint Button – Highlight a possible move.
Which Mode Should You Choose: Turn 1 or Turn 3?
Turn 1 provides you with increased flexibility and a better opportunity to win the game in case you are just getting back into the game. Turn 3 is more limiting - and thus more pleasing should you like a good challenge. The vast majority of online versions give you the option of going through the stock pile as many times as you want.
Variations Worth Trying
In case you are in need of something larger (literally), two or three decks are used in Double Klondike or Triple Klondike. The boards are larger and the moves are more abundant and they are surprisingly forgiving and fun.
It is so serene, easy, and never ending. Other games are based on quick reaction or grinding levels - Solitaire is only required to think a few steps ahead.
