Yes, Comrade is a survival multiplayer sandbox game, which places players in the bleak and windblown island of Belelovska, a secret military base that has an expansion to defend the sea frontiers of the State. This island which used to be a proud symbol of maritime defense of the country has been ruined now due to the fact that the former residents of the island had gone mad and left their posts.

Your time has come to serve the motherland – to wipe up the mess, bring order and perform your role with loyalty and accuracy

Jump to the Middle of Nowhere in Yes, Comrade

You start your journey at the sea. You are on your way to the isolated island post of Belelovska, on a little motor boat in a foggy fog. When you get near, the fog is dispersed and you can see high towering concrete structures of brutalist architecture, which are shattered and crumbling due to neglect.

The overturned furniture, heaps of trash, and broken communications gear in the base tell how things got to be the way they were before you came in. Thou art first tasked: to cleanse, and repair, and repossession the outpost to the honour of the State.

Serve and Survive in Yes, Comrade

Yes, Comrade blends sandbox survival mechanics with simulation and roleplay elements, giving you freedom to live, work, and cooperate on the island as you see fit. Whether you play solo or with fellow comrades, your duty is to maintain control of the military base and ensure the safety of the nation’s maritime borders.

  • Command Centre Operations: Fundamentally, Yes, Comrade is a game that is a sandbox survival game, incorporating simulation and roleplay features, where you are free to live, work, and collaborate on the island the way you like. You can play alone, or together with other comrades, but you are also required to control the military base and provide safety to the maritime borders of the country.
  • Investigate and Report: The island hides more than just old equipment. Using a polaroid camera, players can photograph strange anomalies and suspicious activity. The photos can then be developed in the darkroom and scanned at the base computer to be sent to Party Headquarters for analysis.
  • Build, Restore, and Decorate: When not on duty, players can bring life back to Belegovska through decoration and customization. Paint the walls, hang propaganda posters, replace furniture, and create living quarters that feel like home – or at least, something close to it.

The decorating system allows for creativity and collaboration, transforming the grim military setting into something uniquely yours.

Multiplayer Freedom and Roleplay

Yes, Comrade thrives on cooperation and creativity. Players can work together to maintain the base, assign roles like communications officer or engineer, and even divide labor between defense, maintenance, and surveillance.

Alternatively, you can play independently, exploring the decaying facilities and documenting the eerie solitude of Belegovska.

Despite its military structure, the game offers flexibility:

  • Decorate your quarters with flags and furniture
  • Collaborate or compete with other players
  • Experiment with sandbox interactions across the island
  • Uncover hidden secrets left behind by the previous crew

It’s a sandbox, after all — one shaped by ideology, paranoia, and a desire to survive in service of the “greatest nation on Earth.”

Atmosphere and Aesthetic

Visually, Yes, Comrade captures the essence of Soviet-era brutalism – grey concrete, rusted metal, and flickering fluorescent lights illuminate your lonely shift. The foggy coastlines and constant radio static add to the feeling of isolation, while the propaganda-style posters and mission briefings remind you that you’re never truly free – only loyal.

The game balances humor, tension, and realism, delivering an experience that feels like a mix between a Cold War simulator, co-op survival game, and dark political satire.

Developer and Vision

Yes, Comrade is set in the fictional nation of Belegovska, a state built on obedience, loyalty, and suspicion. The game’s tone and design evoke the feeling of serving under an all-seeing regime – one that values service above all else.

Developed by creators who love sandbox experimentation and environmental storytelling, Yes, Comrade is as much a social experience as it is a survival challenge.

Yes, Comrade stands out as a bold, atmospheric take on the multiplayer sandbox genre. Its blend of Cold War aesthetics, sandbox mechanics, and subtle political commentary make it both eerie and fascinating. Whether you’re cleaning up debris, photographing anomalies, or arguing with friends over which ship to intercept, every action feels like part of a larger story – one about duty, isolation, and the absurdity of control.
