About FNF Reimu: Funkin' Incident

FNF Reimu: Funkin' Incident is a rhythm-game mod, an attempt to apply the world of Touhou Project atmosphere to the well-known structure of Friday Night Funkin. The players of this mod play the role of Reimu Hakurei, who has to struggle against powerful musical battles with the traditional FNF format and the speed and flair of Touhou.

Funkin' Incident does not necessarily rethink the fundamental rhythm formula, but it makes improvements to it: faster tempos, cleaner patterns, and an instantly recognizable soundtrack, still somehow different and fresh.

How to Play FNF Reimu: Funkin' Incident

The gameplay is based on the traditional version of FNF: the arrows move towards the hitting area, and the players should press the right keys in sync with the music. Funkin' Incident however challenges the curve of difficulty by adding a greater speed and rhythmic complexity.

  • Precise timing is essential to maintain combos
  • Missed notes reduce your health bar
  • Each song tests endurance as much as accuracy

The pacing based on Touhou makes each of the songs sound intense, particularly to those players used to the normal tempos of FNF. Reading patterns early and remaining calm is a major way of clearing songs easily.

Controls Guide

  • Arrow Keys or W / A / S / D - Hit notes
  • Enter - Confirm menu selections
  • ESC - Pause the game

If you have played FNF before, you will feel right at home just be prepared for faster songs and tighter timing windows.

Touhou-Inspired Soundtrack and Music Style

FNF Reimu: Funkin' Incident features a soundtrack that was well done. The mod has four remixes, taking a popular Friday Night Funkin track and reinterpreting it in a Touhou-themed way:

  • Fresh (Remix)
  • Philly Nice (Remix)
  • Satin Panties (Remix)
  • Lit Up (Remix)

Why FNF Reimu: Funkin’ Incident Is Worth Playing

FNF Reimu: Funkin' Incident is unique in that it honors both franchises that it attracts. It maintains the easy rhythmic feel of Friday Night Funkin even though it adds the intensity and musical character of Touhou. The rearranged soundtrack is recognizable and not monotonous, and the accelerated pace is a good challenge to an enthusiast of rhythmic games.
