What is The Narrator Says We're Meant to Be! Game

The Narrator Says We're Meant to Be! is a short romance story-telling game created for the Amare Games Festival 2026. The game mixes heartfelt dating-sim storytelling with a clever twist: the story’s narrator isn’t just a voice guiding the plot; he becomes part of the romance itself.

What begins as a simple university date story quickly turns into a playful and slightly chaotic love triangle between you, Julian, and the story’s sarcastic Narrator. With branching choices, multiple endings, and memorable characters, the game delivers a funny and surprisingly touching interactive story.

How to Play The Narrator Says We're Meant to Be!

Story Overview

You are preparing for a big date with Julian, the charming and extremely popular student everyone admires at your university. Everything seems perfect until you get hit on the head by a pebble and suddenly gain the ability to hear the narrator controlling the story.

He comments on your decisions, suggests what to say next, and tries to push the story toward a happy ending. But things get complicated when the narrator himself becomes emotionally involved. Will you follow the original story and romance Julian or fall for the mysterious narrator instead?

Two Romance Routes

The game features two main story routes, each with different outcomes.

Julian Route: This is the main storyline where you focus on building a relationship with Julian through several dates. Your dialogue choices affect your affection level and determine which ending you receive. There are three possible endings for this route.

Narrator Route: After completing Julian’s good ending, a second playthrough unlocks the Narrator route. In this path, you interact more with the narrator and discover his true intentions. This route includes two different endings depending on your choices.

Gameplay and Choices

The gameplay follows a classic visual novel format. You read dialogue, make decisions, and watch the story unfold. Two hidden affection values track your relationships:

  • aff - Julian’s affection level
  • affnar - Narrator’s affection level

Your choices during conversations and dates decide which scenes appear and which ending you reach.

What Players Are Talking About

Within the community, players often discuss how tricky the Narrator route can be to unlock. Since it requires finishing Julian’s Good Ending first and making very specific dialogue choices later, many fans share hints and guides to help others reach the hidden scenes. Another popular topic is meta storytelling. Players enjoy how the game playfully breaks the fourth wall by turning the narrator into a romantic option, something rarely seen in traditional dating sims.

If you like visual novels, choice-driven romance stories, and playful storytelling, The Narrator Says We're Meant to Be! offers a quick but memorable experience.
