Welcome to the WorldGuessr

WorldGuessr is a guessing game based on geography, in which a player is taken to a random geographic place in the real world and has to guess his or her location by exploring the area. By providing street-level image comparable to Google Street View, you are able to paranoid, to move along the streets, to zoom in on objects, and to study all the hints around you, including license plate and road signs, sceneries, and buildings. The nearer you are to the actual site, the more the points you get. It is both exploratory and puzzle-solving, and generally entertaining to geography enthusiasts.

How to Play WorldGuessr

WorldGuessr is intuitive and easy to pick up, but mastering it takes a keen eye. Here’s how each round works:

1. Look Around Your Location: You can turn your perspective by clicking and dragging anywhere on the screen. Find a black arrow as your cursor passes through the picture, by clicking on it, you can keep going with the road. Similar to Street View, you are only able to drive on mapped roads.
2. Use the Mini Map to Make a Guess: In the lower-right corner, you’ll find a small world map. Hover over it to expand the map, then click where you believe you are. Hit Guess! to lock in your choice and see how close you were.
3. Earn Points Based on Accuracy: The closer your guess is to the real location, the higher your score.
4. Use Hints When You’re Stuck: If you can’t figure it out, click Hint for guidance.
5. Choose a Region to Explore: Click World in the top-right corner to explore:
   • Individual regions
   • Specific countries
   • Custom collections of areas

This is great for practicing or studying certain parts of the world.

Single-Player, Multiplayer, and Party Modes

WorldGuessr offers flexible modes for every type of player:

• Single Player: Explore the world at your own pace and build your geography skills.
• Find a Match (Multiplayer): Click Find a Match to join a random party with players worldwide. Be fast though you only get 30 seconds to guess in multiplayer rounds!
• Create Party: Start a private game for your friends. Customize the settings, share your party code, and see who’s the best geoguesser among you. Enter a friend’s code to join their game instantly.

Good players don’t just guess they observe. Here are some tried-and-true tips to sharpen your skills:

1. Pay Attention to Driving Sides

If cars are driving on the left, you can instantly narrow the list to countries like:

• Australia
• South Africa
• United Kingdom
• New Zealand
• Japan (in some cases)

This alone eliminates most of the world.

2. Study Road Signs

Road sign shapes, colors, and fonts reveal huge clues about:

• Language
• Region
• Local traffic systems

3. Look for Landscape and Climate

Grass color, roadside plants, and building styles often hint at:

• Europe vs. Asia
• Northern vs. Southern Hemisphere
• Tropical vs. dry climates

4. Check License Plates and Poles

Even blurred plates can show:

• Plate shapes
