Phasmophobia
What Is Phasmophobia?
Phasmophobia is a horror survival game with multiplayer where players are a part of a team of paranormal investigators. Your task is easy: visit haunted places, collect supernatural proof, define the kind of a ghost, and escape.
Every map be it a farmhouse, manor or other creepy place has its own atmosphere, structure and evil spirit. The objects you research do not stand still. Some are shy. Others are also very aggressive and will seek you out. The more central it is, the more dangerous it is.
The Story Behind the Hunts
In Phasmophobia, you play a character of professional ghost hunters addressing mysterious cases. There are power failures, unusual sounds, odd movements and the sightings of dark figures. In each of the contracts, you are thrown into a place where something supernatural is taking place. Your team has to explore, gather facts and identify the kind of a spirit that exists. However, these spirits are not the minor ornamental details. They react. They manifest. And with provocation they strike.
How to Play Phasmophobia
Gameplay Overview
Gameplay revolves around careful observation, smart equipment use, and coordinated teamwork.
Step 1: Gear Up
You’ll use tools such as:
- EMF Reader - Detect electromagnetic activity
- Thermometer - Identify sudden temperature drops
- Camera - Capture visual evidence
- Voice Recorder / Spirit Box - Communicate with spirits
- Sanity Monitor - Track mental stability
Each piece of equipment helps identify specific types of ghosts based on evidence patterns.
Step 2: Investigate the Location
Move through rooms carefully. Watch for:
- Flickering lights
- Sudden cold spots
- Unexplained sounds
- Doors moving on their own
- Shadowy appearances
Some ghosts manifest more often when players speak or when sanity levels drop.
Step 3: Manage Sanity & Activity
Sanity is critical. The lower your sanity, the more aggressive the ghost becomes. When activity spikes, it may signal an incoming hunt.
If the entity attacks, you must hide quickly. Failing to escape means losing equipment and starting over.
Teamwork
Phasmophobia is designed around cooperation. A well-balanced team typically includes:
- Tracker - Locates ghost activity
- Evidence Collector - Uses tools for confirmation
- Support / Monitor - Watches sanity and van equipment
- Photographer - Captures visual proof

Ghost Behavior & Survival Strategy
Every ghost type behaves differently. Some are passive unless provoked. Others grow more aggressive as sanity drops.
Key survival tips:
- Monitor sanity levels constantly
- Avoid unnecessary provocation
- Use environmental objects to break line of sight
- Always know your hiding spots
- Leave before greed costs you everything
Phasmophobia is a test of nerves, coordination, and observation. It rewards patience, teamwork, and smart equipment use while punishing recklessness. Every contract feels different. Every ghost behaves uniquely. And every successful escape feels earned.
