Let It Consume
What Is Let It Consume?
Let It Consume is an incremental cult-management game. Your job is to harvest resources, generate minions, unlock upgrades, and ultimately strengthen your cult so it can keep feeding a mysterious entity lurking in the dark. Every action pushes you forward more minions, faster rituals, stronger upgrades, and a steady climb toward something… not entirely human. The game starts small, but you’ll quickly find yourself making strategic decisions about which upgrades to prioritize and how to balance your harvesting and killing phases. And despite its minimal visuals, the atmosphere hits surprisingly well: grainy glow, cryptic symbols, and that constant sense that whatever you’re serving is far older and hungrier than you are.
Key Features That Make the Game Shine
A Minimalist, Dark Ritual Aesthetic
The entire interface feels like an occult terminal static, symbols, and flickering UI elements. It’s intentionally vague and unsettling, perfectly setting the tone for a cult-themed incremental experience.
Satisfying Upgrade System
You build strength through:
- Harvesting resources
- Summoning extra minions
- Unlocking rituals and passive boosts
- Choosing when to switch into killing mode
Upgrades are meaningful and feel good to unlock, whether they're boosting your minion count or speeding up your resource flow. A small example from the image: Summoning Rite I increases your starting minions each round—small buffs that quickly snowball into bigger gains.
Harvesting Mode vs. Killing Mode
Switching between modes is the core loop:
- Harvesting Mode → Collect essence and grow your cult.
- Killing Mode → Use your minions to hunt threats and gather rarer resources.
The smooth switching keeps the pacing lively, and mastering the timing is key to optimizing your gains.
Simple Game Controls
The entire game can be played with the mouse, making it perfect for casual sessions:
Right Click / Spacebar → Switch between harvesting and killing
(Important: Left click no longer performs this switch.)
It’s clean, responsive, and beginner-friendly—no complex commands to learn.
You Can Shape the Future of the Game
One of the most exciting aspects of Let It Consume is how open the developer is to feedback. There’s an ongoing discussion in the community about the future direction of the game: Two possible paths the game might take:
- Keep the upgrade tree system – A classic incremental style that’s simple, fast, and progression-focused.
- Switch to a base-building system – Your cult grows into an expanding settlement, giving the game a larger sense of place and long-term strategy.
The gameplay loop stays the same, spending resources → get stronger—but the overall “feel” becomes more immersive and architectural instead of purely ritual-based.
