Dress Me Down
What Is Dress Me Down?
Dress Me Down is a visual novel, short indie dress-up made within four days at Glam Jam 2. It provides approximately 5-10 minutes of play, one ending, and a concentrated story that is based on the atmosphere, and is not about jumpscares. You assist Marion in picking the dress to wear as short segments of dialogue gradually give you the impression that something is amiss.
The design and graphics are neat and minimal to ensure that the words and tone are in the spotlight. The game plays with expectations, turning a familiar dress-up format into an emotional and disturbing experience.
How to Play Dress Me Down
The gameplay is simple and easy to follow:
- Choose outfits for Marion using different clothing categories
- Progress through story scenes and dialogue
- Finish the look and see how the story resolves
Because of asset limitations, some clothing pieces do not fully match with others (for example, dresses don’t always mix well with tops and bottoms). This is noted by the developer and does not affect the story.
The game has no branching paths, but the impact comes from the pacing, writing, and final reveal.

Art Style and Mood
Dress Me Down features a soft, pastel-horror aesthetic with character art that feels cute yet slightly uncanny. The vibe is compared to numerous games such as Laceys Wardrobe which many players did not dislike as the game creates a sense of discomfort instead of shock value.
Player Reactions
The response of players has been very positive and overwhelmingly so, amongst those who entered as a result of anticipating a casual dress-up game.
Common reactions include:
- Surprise at the sudden horror turn
- Praise for the disturbing but emotional story
- Appreciation for the art style and short length
- Comparisons to other psychological horror dress-up games
Several players described the experience as “messed up in the best way” and “one to remember”, which perfectly sums up what Dress Me Down does so well.
Dress Me Down is brief, imaginative, and unexpectedly strong. Provided you like indie horror, experimental games, and stories where familiar mechanics are turned to the dark, Dress Me Down is definitely worth your time.
